I liked this one, but for me it was a little more frustrating than The Deal, mostly because so much of the emotional tension depends on immaturity and mistakes that test your patience. That said, it was still incredibly readable, and I flew through it for the same reason I flew through the first one. Elle Kennedy just has a very easy writing style when it comes to romance. The pacing moves, the chemistry is there, and the characters are always entertaining enough to keep you invested even when they are making bad choices.

What made this one work for me overall was the fact that the emotional arc actually mattered. The conflict was frustrating at times, but it was at least tied to flaws the characters needed to work through, so the growth felt relevant. I did not love every decision or every bit of back and forth, but I could still appreciate that the story was trying to show what it looks like when attraction is not enough and someone actually has to mature.

I do not think it hit quite as effortlessly for me as The Deal, but I still found it worth reading. The romance had enough pull to keep me going, and I liked seeing the series continue with characters who feel connected without all blending together. It is not my favorite of the bunch, but it is still a solid, engaging follow-up with enough emotion and chemistry to make it worth the read.
